Cabaça Armchair
The gourd armchair, the first furniture creation of the NJ + studio, is a tribute to the Brazilian northeastern hinterland. Gourd is the popular name for a hard-shelled fruit, used in decoration, as a musical instrument, handicraft or even as a water bottle in times of drought in the countryside. It was in the plurality of his function, in the strength of his symbolism and in the delicacy of the form that Nildo sought inspiration for the creation of the armchair.
